Oregon State Police Report, Sept. 19

Marijuana
A white Ford Focus, stopped for an expired registration Sept. 13, 6:16 p.m., led to several citations including Possession of Less than an Oz. of Marijuana.  According to an Oregon State Police report, 53-year old Craig D. Matson, Coos Bay, "admitted to me that the metal tin I saw in his driver's side door was Marijuana.  He consented to a search of the vehicle.  The Marijuana was seized and placed into evidence."  Matson was also cited for Driving Uninsured and Failing to Renew his vehicle registration.

Angling Complaint
A warning was issued to a 65-year old male Sept. 14, 3:38 p.m., for Angling Regulations Specific to Marine Fish/Shellfish/Marine Invertebrates, following contact by the ODFW.  According to an OSP report, Robert Gregory was found to be in possession of a Canary Rockfish, which is prohibited.  The fish was seized and placed into evidence.

Possession of Meth
A 41-year old Coos Bay male was stopped in a red GMS S15 Sept. 14, 6:27 p.m., for "not wearing his seatbelt."  According to an OSP report, Troy E. Harris "displayed signs of drug use but not enough to rise to an impairment.  I also learned that he was on probation for Methamphetamine possession.  He consented to a search of his vehicle and a small spoon was located.  The spoon was secured and will be sent to the OSP Crime Lab to check for the presence of a controlled substance.  A charge of Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine is pending.

DUII
A Kia Rio stopped Sept. 14, 8:03 p.m., "for a lighting issue," resulted in a DUII arrest.  According to an OSP report, 58-year old Shawneen Jane Mathews, Coos Bay, "displayed signs of impairment.  The driver volunteered to perform SFST's, which she failed.  She was arrested and transported to the Coos Bay Police Department."  She was issued a criminal citation for DUII and released to a sober adult.

Commercial Fishing Complaint
The skipper of a fishing vessel was issued a warning Sept. 15, 9:46 a.m., Charleston, for selling Coho salmon at Bandon Pacific.  David Rickel "owned and operates the fishing vessel Tiburon.  Coho was seized and turned over to OSP.  Skipper was contacted and warned for the offense.  He stated his new deckhand misidentified the fish.  Fish released to the South Coast Gospel Mission.

Commercial Fishing Complaint
The 57-year old skipper of the fishing vessel Kristy Ann was contacted Sept. 15, 1:21 p.m., at Hallmark Fisheries in Charleston for selling Coho salmon.  According to an OSP report, "the retention of Coho is currently prohibited."  Christopher Silburn was issued a warning.  The fish was seized and released to the South Coast Gospel Mission.

Warrant
A bicyclist stopped for Inadequate Lighting Sept. 15, 10:40 p.m., was taken into custody on an arrest warrant.  According to an OSP report, 44-year old Jeffrey Scott Clement, Eugene, had a Probation Violation warrant for his arrest.  He also had several traffic warrants out of Douglas Co.  Clement was transported to the Coos Co. Jail at Coquille.  An additional charge of Possession of Weapon by Felon was turned over to the DA's Office for consideration.

Impounded
A black Toyota CST was stopped Sept. 17, 9:45 a.m., on Hwy. 101, near milepost 239 for expired registration.  According to an OSP report, a records check of 52-year old Marjorie Sue Hale, North Bend, driving status revealed she was driving while suspended at the violation level. Additionally, a records check on the vehicle registration revealed that the insurance policy was terminated 5/07/13.  The operator was unable to present any alternate proof of insurance.  The right front passenger was also suspended.  The vehicle was impounded and the driver cited.

Commercial Fishing Complaint
An ODFW commercial fish sampler working at Bandon Pacific in Charleston Sept. 17, 12:16 p.m., located a Coho salmon being off loaded from the fishing vessel Grant.  According to an OSP report, "there were a total of 43 fish in the load, one of which was the Coho.  The fish was seized, photographed and then released to the South Coast Gospel Mission food bank."  The vessel's captain, Stephen DeMeter was warned for Retention of Coho out of Season.
